Coach 9: June 9, 2026 Update

In these monthly updates, we have recently covered the exterior and interior of coach 9. Let’s now turn our attention to what the coach will be sitting on, its trucks.

The father and son team of Jerry and Carlos Steinke have been working on the trucks for a number of years. Here we see them forming one of the pieces of the truck frame using the shop flanger.

Many castings went into the construction of the trucks, including the wheels.

While there are not many photos of the construction process, we can show you the finished product. All that remains to be completed is the installation of the vacuum brake system.

The trucks (wheels) for Coach 9 being built by the volunteers of the WW&F Railway Museum in Alna, Maine.

Meanwhile, we are excited to announce that we are rapidly closing in on our goal of raising $120,000 to Finish Coach 9 to the Nines thanks to a $25,000 gift in memory of a recently passed supporter. Help put us over the top at https://wwfry.org/coach9.

Thanks for your continued support and interest in the WW&F!
