Work continues on construction of the chandeliers for coach 9. Ron Ginger has built six of them in his home workshop. Three will go in coach 9. Three will also go in coach 3, when it gets restored.

The designs for the chandeliers were based on images in old catalogs, photos of the chandeliers that were in coach 3, and examining the similar ones that are in the SR&RL Rangeley. Complete 3D CAD models were created using Fusion 3D software. From the models, 3D printed stainless steel parts were made. Ron said that he was impressed with the quality of the parts, as they could be drilled, threaded, sanded, and polished the same as cast stainless steel.

Each of the chandeliers will have two lamps, so a total of two sets of twelve will be constructed. One set will be oil lamps, like those used back in the day. The other set will be battery powered LED lights. Eric Schade will be building both sets.
Jason Lamontagne found a source for the lamp globes. They are in two parts, the top half milk glass and the bottom half clear glass. The two halves are held together by a stainless steel band. Eric had to drill the clear glass to enlarge the hole. This was done with a diamond hole saw working underwater.

The next task will be to install the chandeliers, sometime in the near future.
