Even with the excitement from this weekend’s Annual Picnic – during which many attendees admired the stunning Coach 9 being constructed with your help – we don’t want to neglect our monthly progress reports.
How will coach 9 be coupled to a train? None of the current passenger equipment have the Miller Hook system, although, eventually, some will. And, once the conversions are installed, how will the cars be coupled to the locomotive? The solution is an adaptive knuckle coupler that can be fitted onto the Miller Hook. Two adaptors have been cast and are being finished for use by our summer intern, Darya.

You are looking at the south end of coach 9. Here, the brake wheel has been attached to the staff and the assembly has been installed on the platform. More work is needed to finish the railing.

Meanwhile we are only a few thousand dollars shy of reaching our goal to “Finish Coach 9 to the Nines!” Thanks for being a part of the Coach 9 team and your continued support.
