Coach 9: Jan 9, 2026 Update

A lot has happened since the last report regarding the progress on coach 9. The new oak seat runners have been stained and installed and the seats have been assembled.

The seats have been installed in Coach 9 - being built by the dedicated volunteers at the WW&F Railway Museum in Alna, Maine.

Work has begun on the end platforms. Here we see the end sills and some of the hardware.
Here the draft beams and platform side sills are installed.
Here the end sill has been attached to the side sills and draft beams.
The metal piece in the middle of the end sill is the buffer. The spring will be attached to the end of it. The metal bar sitting at an angle is the cut lever. It is used in the uncoupling of the coach. The coach will have a special type of coupler called a Miller coupler, which will be covered in a future report. Stay tuned…
