About The Experience

With possible snow in the forecast this week, it’s time for a Steam Train Snow Day! Join us for a wintertime adventure aboard the WW&F Railway. Your trip will take you from Sheepscot station through ‘Currier & Ives’-like scenery of evergreen forests and farms – and over the one-of-a-kind boxed pony covered bridge to Trout Brook. Then we’ll charge back up the hill to Top of Mountain for a special winter treat.

Our friends at SeaLyon Farm – Alna’s famous lavender growers, will bring you to their farmstand on tractor-drawn wagons for a quick stop at their store.

Alternatively, you may stay aboard the train as we take another run “up the mountain” to Trout Brook and back again, including a special photo stop at the Trout Brook covered (box pony) bridge!

Once we’re all back together again, the historic steam train will return everyone to Sheepscot station where you will want to visit our gift shop, peruse our displays and explore our rail yard.

Make History on the WW&F

This special, one time, one day only train will be one of the first opportunities to ride the newly-opened Mountain Extension all the way to Trout Brook during wintertime since 1933! Plus, for those who do not wish to visit the farm, we’ll travel back down and up the mountain a second time, and make a photo stop at the Trout Brook covered bridge.

Accessibility & Pets

Due to limitations at Top of Mountain station this event is not Wheelchair accessible.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on this train, at the discretion of the Conductor.

Winter Caboose Adventure!

Rent the WW&F caboose on your Steam Train and Farmstand Snow Day for the exclusive use of your whole family (or small group) of up to 15 people. Additional cost (And yes, you may ride in the cupola, if you so wish.)

This is an outdoor event. Please make note of the weather forecast and dress accordingly. There is very limited shelter at the farm and the train itself is not heated.

NOTE: The Steam Train and Farmstand Snow Day does not include an extended farm visit, horse-drawn sleighrides, food, and other amenities available during Steam & Sleighs events.
