Model T Railcar Ramble
Tour the narrow gauge in style aboard a Model T Railcar
Tour the Narrow Gauge railway – Midcoast Maine’s historic hidden gem!
The WW&F, like many smaller railroads, was very innovative and constantly looking for ways to cut costs. As such, they modified at least two different early automobiles to ride the rails, in order to make track inspections and trips to work sites easier. Here is your chance to recreate that unique experience.
On very select dates, the WW&F Railway Museum will be operating its Model T Railcar for the general public. The car seats only 5 passengers per trip, and will be touring the restored WW&F all the way from Sheepscot to Trout Brook (including a trip over the boxed-pony covered bridge.)
Don’t miss your opportunity to ride this one-of-a-kind vehicle. And maybe you can even help turn it around.
Ticket price includes one seat (of 5 available per trip) on the Model T Railcar for a ride to Trout Brook and return, admission to the museum grounds, as well as parking at Sheepscot.
Note that passengers requiring extra assistance, including those in wheelchairs can not be accommodated on the rail car. Pets of any kind are not permitted. Children must be supervised by their parents at all times.
We look forward to seeing you on the narrow gauge!

About Model T Railcar 4
During its common carrier era (1894-1933) the WW&F owned at least two different rail cars used to inspect the railroad. Since these cars did not survive the railroad’s scrapping in the late 1930s, our volunteers (led by Leon Weeks) completed this replica of a similar rail car in 2010. After an extensive overhaul in 2023 (led by Paul Baresel), it is once again ready to take lucky passengers on limited trips along the railway.

A unique feature of this car is a built-in turntable, which allows it to be turned to face the direction of travel anywhere on the railroad. Guests are generally encouraged to “give it a spin” during their visit.
Substitutions Due to Circumstance
We endeavor to operate the Model T Railcar over the entire 3.5-mile route of today’s WW&F Railway. However, for reasons outlined in our policies, we reserve the right to substitute a shorter route (usually turning at Top of Mountain station) or a different service.
Passes, Vouchers and Discounts
Due to this unique experience, and very limited seating, all tickets are sold per passenger without discount. The only exception are those Members who possess a brass Lifetime Pass.
The Model T Engine is Unreal!

The Model T (yes its a real Ford Model T car) is adapted to the narrow gauge rails. The real treat is the engineer will allow you to turn the engine around if you are old enough. Not going to tell how will ruin the surprise. Will definitely be on next summer’s list of things to do.
