Join Alna Center’s Stationmaster Steve for a journey filled with stories, songs and smiles!
Board your train at Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) for a steam-powered ride through the wild pine forests, farmlands and hamlets of the Sheepscot Valley to Alna Center. At Alna Center, stationmaster Steve will greet passengers and welcome them to a 30-minute storytime and sing-along.
We’ll all wave as the train pulls back into the station and board the train to head back to Sheepscot where you can explore our railyard, examine our displays, and peruse our shop.
Ticket price includes the steam train ride, storytime, as well as parking at Sheepscot. Note: the Storytime Train does not include a train ride on the “Mountain Extension” to Trout Brook. Please refer to the Sheepscot Valley Steam Train for trips that extend to that destination.
Note that passengers in wheelchairs can not be accommodated on this train.

Caboose Adventure
Rent the WW&F caboose on your Storytime Train for the exclusive use of your whole family (or small group) of up to 15 people. (And yes, you may ride up in the cupola, if you so wish.)
About Stationmaster Steve
‘Stationmaster Steve’ Piwowarski is an accomplished musician, long-time WW&F volunteer, and early childhood educator. He and his young family reside in an old farmhouse adjacent to the WW&F’s Alna Center station that they share with their dog Swallow.
About the Weather and Cancellations
The Storytime Train will run rain or shine (please dress accordingly.) If extreme weather is predicted, all passengers will be notified via email or phone, and given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
