From Wednesday, September 7 – Saturday, September 10, 2016, the National Narrow Gauge Convention visits the Augusta Civic Center, Augusta Maine. Welcome!
The WW&F Railway Museum will be open and operating for the entire week of the convention, primarily in the afternoons but more details will be posted as we get closer. Buses (from the First Student Bus Co.) will be running between the Civic Center and the Museum during the show, leaving the Civic Center at 9:30 AM, noon, and 2:30 PM; and leaving the WW&F at approximately 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
Visit our table in the vendor area. Additionally, we will have a clinic on what it took to rebuild Locomotive #9 (time TBD), plus another one on the Past, Present & Future of the WW&F Railway Museum (time TBD).
On Friday September 9, we will be hosting a narrated bus tour of what remains of the WW&F line, from Wiscasset to Albion with some stops along the Winslow branch. Cost is $50.00. The bus will be leaving the Civic Center at 8:00 AM, returning around 6:00 PM. The tour includes a copy of the book Tours of the Sheepscot Narrow Gauge by Bill Reidy, narration of the tour by Bill, and train rides on the WW&F.
Lunch will be provided, but at separate cost, as follows:
Lunches will be provided by Sprague’s Lobster on the Wiscasset Creamery Pier. There are two options for lunch: Lobster roll ($21.95) or Chicken Salad ($8.95). All lunches come with the sandwich of choice, a bag of chips, a desert, and an apple. Drinks will be available from the Museum. The lunch will be ready upon your arrival at the Museum from the tour.
Deadline for online reservations and payment is August 9, 2016, which is one month before the convention. Any available seats after that will be made available at the convention itself (but must be paid immediately upon reservation), but the box lunch will not be available.
If you are interested, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject of “NNGC Bus Tour”.
Payment can be via PayPal (see the Donate button on the right side of the page) or via check mailed to the Museum. Please put “2016 NNGC Bus Tour” on the memo line of the check or the description of the Paypal donation. However – please make sure you first confirm with the Reservations email that space is available!
At the Convention: Please come to our table BEFORE the bus leaves on Friday to check in with us so that we can verify your lunch choice and you can pick up your tour packet. That means you need to seek us out on Wednesday evening or all day Thursday, as the bus leaves as the convention opens on Friday.
