Events for 2016

Friday, March 25: Spring Photographic Excursion.
Please join us for a Spring Photographic Excursion, featuring newly restored WW&F Locomotive #9. Our excursion will run from 9 AM to 8 PM.
Price is $100 per person. For more info, please see the flyer. To reserve your spot, please email reservations@wwfry.org.

Saturday, March 26: Easter Eggspress.
Come join the WW&F Railway Museum as we celebrate Easter with Steam train rides 12 noon to 3 p.m., and Easter egg hunts at Alna Center! Ride the train to Alna Center station and find the golden egg! Separate egg hunts will be held each trip for children 5 and under and children 6 and older.

Friday – Sunday, April 29 – May 1: Spring Work Weekend.
Come help extend our track and/or help with other projects on the railroad.  Work is from 7am – 5pm; lunch and supper are provided by the Museum to the volunteers.  Steam train may be running, but may be reserved for work crews.  Limited train rides available for those not wishing to join the volunteer corps.

Saturday, May 7: The start of our 2016 operating season and our Annual Meeting!
We start the 2016 weekend operating season with steam trains and our Annual Meeting! Trains will depart Sheepscot station at 11am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Annual Meeting: Come hear about our Museum’s accomplishments over the past year, our current state and plans for the future. Normally held at the historic Alna Meeting House, this year’s meeting will be held on the Museum’s Sheepscot campus so members have a chance to see newly restored WW&F locomotive #9 in operation!
Our formal unveiling of the restored locomotive #9, originally planned for May 7th, is now planned for our Annual Picnic in August. Watch our website for the latest update on plans for the picnic!

Saturdays, May 14 & 21: Train Rides, Every Saturday.
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm every Saturday.  Trains run at 11am, 12.30pm, and 2.30pm.
NOTE: Train rides are diesel powered and/or with our Model T inspection car (weather and crew permitting).

Saturday & Sunday, May 28 & 29: Memorial Day Weekend.
Kick off the start of the Summer season with steam!  Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Steam trains run all weekend. Model T inspection car rides also available.
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.

Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Most weekends, train rides are diesel powered and/or with our Model T inspection car (weather and crew permitting.)
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.
NOTE: Steam trains will run on Father’s Day Weekend.

Saturdays & Sundays, July 2 – September 11: Steamy Summer Season: Steam trains every weekend!
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Steam trains run all weekend. Model T inspection car rides also available.
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.

Saturday, July 9: Ice Cream Social.
Join us for this summertime favorite! Ice cream will be served at Alna Center in the afternoon.
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.
Rain date: Sunday, July 10.

Saturday & Sunday, August 13 & 14: Annual Picnic.
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm.
Food and fun for everyone. Picnic lunch from 11am – 2pm.
NOTE: While trains continue to operate on the regular timetable, there are often extras, such as photo freights.  Other items of interest (such as early gas engines) may be on display.

Saturday, September 3 through Sunday, September 11: Museum open for the 2016 National Narrow Gauge Convention.
Our Museum will be open to the public daily the week of the 2016 National Narrow Gauge Convention, with steam trains running. Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm.

Saturdays & Sundays, September 17 – October 2: Fall Trains.
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Most weekends, train rides are diesel powered and/or with our Model T inspection car (weather and crew permitting.)
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.
NOTE: Steam trains will run at the Fall Festival – Sept 24th.

Saturday, September 24: Fall Festival.
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm.
Steam trains run all day. Model T inspection car rides also available.
Trains run at 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm.
NOTE: Family events include steam train rides, handcar rides, railcar rides, Model AA truck rides, children’s games, a pumpkin patch, music and light refreshments.

Saturdays, November thru December: Museum Open & volunteers working, no train rides.
Museum grounds open 9am – 3pm every Saturday.  Volunteers are working, and the gift shop is open.  However there will be no scheduled trains until Victorian Christmas.

Saturday, November 5: Albion Day.
Work crews gather at Albion to assist reconstruction of the station at the northern terminus of the original railroad.

Saturday, December 17: Victorian Christmas.
Museum grounds open 9am – 5pm
Steam and Diesel trains 11am – 4pm. Sleigh (or wagon) Rides 11am – 3pm.
The Museum thanks its supporters, neighbors, and community with train rides, a horse-drawn sleigh/wagon, and Santa Claus.
NOTE: This is a FREE event, but donations are gratefully accepted.
